My painter needed 6 hours to prep it before he could paint it. Lots of pin holes and soft spots. Neither he nor I were impressed with the quality out of the mold. The mounting hardware is a cobbled-together collection of metal flat straps and angles from the hardware aisle at Home Depot (literally - they have the "Stanley" stamp on them). It works, but looks rather silly behind the fairing if you bother to look. More Rube Goldberg than I"d like. The seal around the windshield (loose plastic to plastic, no weatherstripping), and the top of the fairing directly above the speakers is VERY bad (approx. 1/8 inch gap). Not sure how to get even close to a weather tight seal, so there is going to be an issue keeping the sound system dry. Still not sure how to fix that. It"s in for painting at the moment, I do wish it had some sort of rubber gasket around the inner and outer shells to cover up some of the gaps. I figured that for the price I paid, it would have truely been "paint ready" as it is i am going to have to spend some time with body putty and sand paper to actually get the unit ready for paint. I was also surprised at the size of the gaps between the inner and outer halves of the fairing. I expected to see a much tighter fit... again, more body putty and sand paper. I don"t like the seam were the two halves fit together. The seam I"m refering to is the one just abouve the top speaker. Why is it that it wasn"t designed to be more fitted and not so primative. I find it to be a design flaw. The forms group at VTXOA menbers seem to share the same issues. I only wish I did a bit more research before I chose the Extream Revolutions faring. The workmanship on the fiberglass is excellent. I thought the price of the basic fairing mounts for the outer fiberglass fairing was a little steep, especially when I saw how they fit. I thought they were a little cheesy and the workman ship was not that great. (The crimped ends of the square tubes dig into the windshield which I fear will break it if I don"t do something...) All in all I would not hesitate to do business with Extreme Revolution again.
