Our VTX1300 Fat Tire Kit has all the bolt-on parts you need to convert your VTX into an incredible pro-street custom bike.

Xtreme Revolution has all the proven components you need to assemble a truly personalized custom ride. We have prepared this fat tire configuration page to assist you in understanding the products and making the choices that are right for you.  We’ll walk through each of the components that make up a fat tire kit and present the alternatives that you can choose from.

If you're going to take your VTX to this level of customization, you may wish to consider additional alternatives that are not included in the fat tire kit, but you should keep them in mind when making your selections here.  Some of those considerations include air intake kits, chin spoilers, seats, braided steel brake and clutch lines, control lines, handlebars, side-mount license plates, lighting, and exhaust systems. 

Although we are not able to offer nationwide installation and/or painting services, installation of the basic kit can be done by most home mechanics with simple hand tools. If you decide to have your kit installed by a professional mechanic, most shops charge anywhere between 8 to 16 hours of labor to install the kit, depending on the options you choose (and not including paint work).

Delivery Schedule
Delivery time will vary widely depending upon the specific components selected.  Deliveries have been made in as short as one week to as long as fifteen weeks.  Most deliveries complete in an average of just after four weeks.  Major factors impacting delivery are wheel and finish choice and suspension selection.  After your order is configured, we can provide you with our best estimate of delivery times for your specific needs.

Some components are special order items.  Consider your selection of special order items carefully as there is a 25% restocking fee for all special order items returned, even those in like new condition.  Returns are unacceptable for items that are in a less than ‘like-new’ condition.  Please see our terms and conditions for additional information.  We will be happy to answer any questions you may have before ordering to ensure that you know exactly what to expect in the product you will be receiving.

Xtreme Revolution’s fat tire kits come standard with an RC Components 18 x 8.5 inch polished aluminum wheel in the style of your choice.  There are many styles available at no additional charge. Click here to view a poster of the various wheel styles available. Chrome plating is available at an extra cost.

Wheels are special order and made-to-order and as such are non-returnable and non-refundable.  They typically take four to six weeks to produce.  Take your time in making your selection to be sure you get exactly the look you want.

The rear fender is typically the largest body piece on the motorcycle and has the most impact on the look of your bike. Xtreme Revolution is proud to offer a variety of fat tire rear fender options to suit the various tastes and needs of VTX riders.

Phat Digger

For the VTX, no Fat Tire fender fits better than the Phat Digger. This composite fiberglass fender is specifically designed to fit a VTX with a 240mm tire and hug the tire as closely as possible yet still provide minimal room for suspension travel.

You do not have to cut the fender supports off of the frame, but they must be ground down slightly for a tight fit.

The Phat Digger kit includes a new set of curved struts that have been specifically designed to flow with the tighter curves of this tire hugging fender. The struts are CNC milled from solid billet and show chrome plated.

Unlike the Mongo fender, the Fat Digger fender sits lower than the stock fender so we are uncertain that it will work with every aftermarket VTX seat. We have determined that both the stock seat and several top-brand aftermarket seats can be made to work by removing the frame bumpers from the underside of the seat pan, allowing the seat to sit lower and reach the top of the fender. Please be aware that you will have to modify your seat to work with this fender.

XCalibur Fender

Are you riding two-up or do you want to show off more of that custom rear fender paint? If so, the Xcalibur might be just the ticket for your ride.This heavy duty fender is made from 14-gauge steel andoffers extremely solid construction.

This fender is specifically designed to fit the VTX and hug the tire as closely as possible yet still provide room for suspension travel.  You do not have to cut the fender supports off of the frame, but they must be ground down slightly.

You can choose to re-use the stock struts from an 1800C or 1300C but they must be modified slightly. You may prefer to include a set of our replacement curved struts that have been specifically designed to flow with the tighter curves of this tire hugging fender.

The Xcalibur fender sits lower than the stock fender so we are uncertain that it will work with every aftermarket VTX seat. We have determined that both the stock seat and several top-brand aftermarket seats can be made to work by removing the frame bumpers from the underside of the seat pan, allowing the seat to sit lower and reach the top of the fender.Please be aware that you will have to modify your seat to work with this fender.

If your looking for a shorter fender, you can easily cut the Xcalibur fender and you will end up with a steel version of the Phat Digger fender.

SUMO-X Fender

The very popular SUMO-X fender and strut package provides a totally custom look and features a radius that hugs the tire very closely from the tip all the way up under the seat. The fender is constructed of fiberglass with a core reinforcement to ensure durability as well as longevity. The fender includes very stylish struts that are CNC machined from billet aluminum and chrome plated.

In order to install a fat tire on a VTX you need a new swingarm that provides clearance for the much wider tire. Our solution is to modify a stock Honda swingarm by creating notches that provide clearance for a tire up to 250mm. Unlike some other companies, we also add extra reinforcing to make sure nothing flexes under the punishing load of torque produced by the massive VTX. We take your safety very seriously, and with our swingarm you don't need to worry about what's going to happen when you hit a giant pothole at 110mph with you and your wife and 300lbs of luggage -- it is very sturdy.

The swing arm is available in gloss black powdercoat or Chrome.

Stock and most aftermarket exhaust systems are compatible with the Xtreme Revolution fat tire configurations. The beefed up swingarm may interfere with some aftermarket systems.  At this time, the only known interference is with the Vance & Hines Big Shots' bracket which can be remedied with a minor modification.

Most riders want to get their bikes as low as possible without bottoming out.  Stock shocks are roughly 12.5 inches in length.  Experience has shown us an 11 inch shock is the minimum length to be installed while maintaining the tire to fender clearance necessary for most riding conditions.  If you hit a big enough bump with enough force, you may still hit bottom, but that is true of any suspension.  We offer a selection of 11 inch Progressive 412 or Progress 440 shocks for our Fat Tire kits.

The 412s are the standard shocks.  They offer precision double walled, steel bodies to protect the inner cylinder and provide consistent damping.   Their spring pre-load can be adjusted easily with the 5-position cam.  The multi-stage, velocity sensitive, internal valving provides for the ride and handling you seek.

Progressive 440 shocks are offered as an upgrade to the 412 shocks.  These shocks integrate an inertia sensitive and velocity sensitive damping system.  They have polished and anodized billet aluminum end covers.  No tools are required to easily adjust the spring pre-load.  440 shocks come with a limited lifetime warranty on the shock and springs.

When selecting shocks, you must consider the load you will be carrying.  If you ride most of the time with a sprung load, including rider, passenger, and luggage, that is less than 300 pounds, Standard Duty shocks are advised.  If you normally ride with loads greater than 300 pounds, Heavy Duty shocks are for you.

(Note: Progressive shocks do not fit the 2005 VTX1800C and VTX1800F models because Honda changed the upper mounting bolt.  To make them fit you must purchase two OEM part number 52452-MCH-000 (2001-2004 upper mounts) from Honda.)

As an alternative to traditional shock absorbers, air ride suspensions offer riders the ultimate flexibility in positioning.  With an air ride, you can slam the bike down in the parking lot and then jack it back up for that smooth ride home. Fat tire kits from Xtreme Revolution have been assembled using air ride suspensions provided by two different suppliers - Tricky Air and KewlMetal.  The Tricky Air system installation requires more fabrication effort, but comes at a lower cost.  KewlMetal mounts quickly and easily.  Both do a great job of providing the look and ride desired.

You may want to further change the look of your bike with a new front fender. If you are installing a custom 21" front wheel a new front fender is required. We also offer VTX1800C front fender adapters that make it easy to install a 21" fender.

Adding a fat tire to the VTX does affect the handling. The bike remains stable and predictable, but is does take more effort to get the bike leaned over.

One solution is to add a set of six-degree triple trees to the front end. Raked triple trees will affect the handling of any bike by making it easier to turn. When used in conjuction with a fat tire in the rear, the raked trees will neutralize the slow handling of the fat tire and bring back the nimble handling that a stock VTX offers.

In addition, this bolt-on kit will change the look of your bike dramatically. The additional rake creates that longer, lower appearance of a custom without the expensive cost of modifying the frame with a saw and a welder.

Made out of tough billet aluminum and polished to a beautiful finish the VTX-treme six-degree triple tree is the answer.


No raked triple tree will be included with your kit.
